In big news, at least for me, I didn’t know that Justin
Bieber had a contract with Adidas.
It totally makes sense though. Every picture of him is
touting that sports brand.
But to be honest, I thought Bieber just REALLY, REALLY,
REALLY liked Adidas. I kind of thought Bieber’s addiction to Adidas was like my
addiction to Club Monaco—obsessive and compulsive.
And I realize, his addiction is better than mine and more functional because it comes with
a paycheck worth $58 million.
However, after Bieber’s latest mishap—a DUI—I was surprised
that Adidas didn’t say: “We have no comment at this time” and
proceed to slowly, but surely distance themselves from Bieber. Instead, Adidas
responded:
"Nothing is changing in our relationship with Mr.
Bieber at this time”.
Interesting, interesting.
This doesn’t surprise me though. Bieber’s pictures are going
to be used by every media outlet in the world that’s documenting how a cute
little kid from Canada has turned into a pill-popping, drag racing delinquent. Every smiling picture of Bieber will be wearing the Adidas brand. I wonder if his mug shot has the logo. LOL.
I wonder whether Adidas will have
a spike in sales as Justin Bieber’s Beliebers take to the store and wear the
Adidas brand in support of their fallen idol.
