Belieb in Adidas

In big news, at least for me, I didn’t know that Justin Bieber had a contract with Adidas.

It totally makes sense though. Every picture of him is touting that sports brand.

But to be honest, I thought Bieber just REALLY, REALLY, REALLY liked Adidas. I kind of thought Bieber’s addiction to Adidas was like my addiction to Club Monaco—obsessive and compulsive.

And I realize, his addiction is better than mine and more functional because it comes with a paycheck worth $58 million.

However, after Bieber’s latest mishap—a DUI—I was surprised that Adidas didn’t say: “We have no comment at this time” and proceed to slowly, but surely distance themselves from Bieber. Instead, Adidas responded:

"Nothing is changing in our relationship with Mr. Bieber at this time”.

Interesting, interesting.

This doesn’t surprise me though. Bieber’s pictures are going to be used by every media outlet in the world that’s documenting how a cute little kid from Canada has turned into a pill-popping, drag racing delinquent. Every smiling picture of Bieber will be wearing the Adidas brand. I wonder if his mug shot has the logo. LOL.

And free publicity? Score!

I wonder whether Adidas will have a spike in sales as Justin Bieber’s Beliebers take to the store and wear the Adidas brand in support of their fallen idol.

You can totally see this happening, can't you?

Advocacy group makes emojis talk

French advocacy group Innocence de Danger is bringing to life emojis in a really creepy, but interesting way.

It’s to bring awareness to parents and young people about who they are talking to on the Internet and over text message.

To be honest, I couldn't stop staring at the ads. It was disconcerting to see the seemingly innocuous emojis that I send to my friends over iMessage take form and turn into something that is anything but fun and humourous.

In fact, it becomes a reality that no one enjoys picturing.

However, it's a message that is incredibly important to picture because of the reason why we use emojis. Emojis in many ways are what we send to our friends because they symbolize a closeness in our relationships.

Adults who use emojis to talk to children take advantage of that mentality, and seeing our favourite emojis as sexual predators is jarring.

But at the same time, it's also a necessary warning to become more educated and diligent in protecting not only yourself, but the kids you care about too.
